Fundraise for us

We rely wholly on fundraising, grants and donations to continue to run our service for bereaved families.  We’re so grateful to all our fundraisers for raising money and awareness of our work.

Whether you’re a school, a company, a family or an individual, there are so many ways to get involved.  The event or activity you do can be big or small and as simple or as ambitious as you wish. The important thing is to do something you enjoy and feel excited about! So get your thinking cap on and #DoIt4FiG!

The difference you can make!

Firstly, we need you to spread the word. If you know of any families with bereaved children, tell them about us. FiG is now in the strongest place it has ever been, providing more support to those who need it than ever before! We need to let our community know we are here.

Secondly, at FiG we believe all children and young people have the right to access bereavement support after someone close to them dies. This is why there is no charge for families to receive our help. However, there is a cost to FiG. We are so grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund and to our other funders, but we receive no statutory support. To continue to develop our service, and to help more families in the future, we need your help to raise funds.

Please note: Since 2020 the cost to support all members of a family through FiG was previously closer to £1000 per family. This is because bereaved families needed more supportive phone calls and visits during the pandemic. The cost was also higher because we were only able to support a small number of families through our group sessions to remain Covid compliant. Since September 2022 we have been able to reduce the cost of supporting one family through Families in Grief to £750. Since the pandemic we are seeing families needing fewer support calls, and higher numbers are now able to attend our support group sessions.

Thank you so much for fundraising for us!  As you are aware, we are a small charity with limited resources and so – before you go ahead with your preparations – please read the following.

What we would love from you

We are a small organisation which means that, much as we would like to, we are not able to get involved in the preparation and running of fundraising activities/events.  This means that:

  • It is your responsibility to organise your fundraising event/activity and to have the correct resources needed to do this
  • It is your responsibility to promote your event/activity using your own resources.

Thank you in advance for your understanding, and thank you again for choosing to be a part of our story – we are truly grateful.

What you can expect from us
  • We can support your marketing campaign by creating a few posts in the lead up to the event on our FiG social media pages.
  • We can publish information about your event on our FiG website in the lead up to your event.
  • We can help you to connect to local radio stations if you’d like to talk about your event on air and contribute to a press release.
  • We will endeavour to provide you with a few FiG volunteers on the day of your event, but this depends on their availability on the day.

When promoting your event/activity you may wish to use our logo or access some good photos or other information. Please email [email protected] and we will send this to you.
