FiG has moved office!

You may have heard – we have moved office!  Our new address is Families in Grief, Castle Lodge, North Walk, Barnstaple EX31 1DF.   Tel no: 01271 447960.

We wanted to be in a building which was more centrally located for the families we support – and to make this a warm and welcoming space for bereaved children, young people and their families to drop in and see us, as well as a more practical hub for FiG volunteers to meet.

Our key challenge? A lack of budget.  Although it was a beautiful building, Castle Lodge needed a fair bit of attention inside to fulfil our needs – which is when we put the call out to local organisations and volunteers to donate key items and, importantly, time.  What’s more, the work needed to be complete within two weeks!

Fuelled by cups of tea and the occasional biscuit, the Volunteer DIY Hit Squad set to work.  It was a frenzy of cleaning, sanding, filling in, painting, fitting carpets and assembling furniture.  Plus gardening. So who are these local heroes? Click on the video to see who deserves a huge pat on the back!  Naomi Jefferies, FiG CEO says: “Thank you all so much for everything you’ve done to make our move possible. You have all been beyond amazing in terms of the time you have given and the generosity you have shown. There are so many hidden diamonds living in our community – we really are very lucky.”

And rest assured, we may have moved our FiG HQ but our commitment to supporting bereaved families right across North Devon and the Torridge area remains unchanged.
