Visit ‘The Universal’ at Studio Kind

A new exhibition called ‘The Universal’ will be open to the public from 25th May through to 8th June 2024 (Wednesdays  to Saturdays 12.00-17.00). The venue is Studio Kind at the Corn Store, Pannier Market, Butchers Row in Barnstaple.

The Universal is an exhibition by bereaved young people and is the result of a series of workshops on the theme of ‘exploring grief through art’ hosted by Studio KIND. and Families in Grief – it gives a powerful visual voice to emotions that are often hard to share.

“This exhibition has been created by a very special group of bereaved young people”, says Etelka Moon, FiG Family Support Officer. “They have been supported by local artists, with Families in Grief alongside, to showcase a collection of deeply personal pieces of art that express their grief and celebrate the lives of the people they love and who have died.”

One young person said “I have absolutely loved this (the project). You can encapsulate and celebrate the person who has died through your art and all the little personal things about them. It helps to talk openly with other people, to do your art and for other people to ask questions and be really interested in your work.”

The exhibition is free to enter and also features local artists whose work explores themes of loss.

We look forward to seeing you there.
