Are you passionate about helping those who have experienced the death of someone close to them? Then, we’d love to hear from you. Read more here and apply by completing the quick form at the bottom of the page by Monday 31st January 2022.
We are looking for new volunteers to support our work with bereaved children, young people and, importantly, their parents or carers.
If supporting parents or carers, your volunteering role will include facilitating our parents support group sessions that run alongside our support sessions for their children. During these sessions, the parents or carers come together to talk about their family situations with each other. As you can imagine, conversations can be sad as well as challenging at times. We need you to be compassionate, empathic, confident and a great listener. Perhaps you have facilitated groups of parents before, maybe you have a social care qualification or you have relevant experience?
Find out more here about how we support parents and carers.
If supporting children and young people, we are always keen to hear from you as there are new opportunities developing all the time. Find out more here about how we support children and young people
We provide full training and ongoing support for all our volunteers. The initial training usually takes 6 x 2 hour sessions plus one whole day. All applicants will be subject to a full DBS Check and need to be aged over 18.
Can you help?
We would love to hear from you if you are:
-
- a good listener and communicator who is able to facilitate open conversations in a small group setting and one-to-one. Or who is interested in developing these skills.
- friendly, compassionate and want to make an amazing difference to others’ lives
- able to volunteer three hours a week in the evening in Bideford or Barnstaple over a six week period – the duration of one of our support groups. We usually ask volunteers to commit to help with a minimum of one group a year. There may be potential to support families over the phone/video or on a one-to-one basis in the future.
- keen to develop new skills, challenge yourself and make new friends along the way.
