Bringing the outside in…

We love our new office in Castle Lodge, Barnstaple. And one of the reasons are four beautiful designs hanging on the wall, each depicting a scene from North Devon.

We are lucky enough to be the proud owners of these unique pieces of art, created for FiG by local artist Karen French.

The artwork came into being thanks to a conversation between Naomi Jefferies, FiG CEO and Karen, about the therapeutic benefits of spending time outdoors and in contact with nature.

“When you’ve been bereaved, people often tell us they find comfort going for a walk by the sea, in woodland or on Exmoor,” says Naomi. “Children and young people can find it especially hard to articulate their feelings so we always encourage them to step outside, breathe deep and take in their surroundings. We’re so grateful to Karen for bringing our beautiful North Devon coastline into Castle Lodge.”

Karen says “The beautiful scenery of North Devon, Torridge and Exmoor gave easy inspiration for this new series of artwork, and I drew upon memories of favourite local places visited with my family over the years. My designs, which are digitally sketched, reflect the playful aspects of nature around us and hopefully will promote gentle reflection and positive thought.

It’s a privilege to be collaborating with FiG and soon, fine art prints along with other merchandise, will be available for purchase to help raise money for this hard working local charity!”
