Thursday 16th September marked the launch event of this year’s Appledore Book Festival and Families in Grief was lucky enough to be chosen as the beneficiary charity for the evening.

Emma Marston, General Manager of Families in Grief, was asked to interview the Rev Richard Coles about his recent book, ‘The Madness of Grief – a memoir of love and loss’.
Not only did the 450-strong audience gain some heartfelt insights about Richard’s own experience of grief and ‘sadmin’ after the death of his partner, David, but Emma gleaned some great ‘behind-the scenes’ gossip from his time on ‘Strictly’ and in The Communards.
Festival-goers also proved to be extremely generous, donating over £500 to Families in Grief.
Thank you so much to everyone who came along and supported the event. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
