FiG was the very happy beneficiary of a cheque for £1,400 at the North Devon Sports and Classic Car Club’s AGM in Westward Ho! on Sunday 13th March.
The Club chose FiG as their charity of the year at their AGM in 2020, just days before the first lockdown.
“All the car shows were cancelled that year but we did meet for socially distanced picnics, when allowed, and the collecting box would always be shaken vigorously!”, says Ann Whitehead, Charity Liaison for the Club.
“Because of the lack of collecting opportunities the Club decided to continue with FiG as our charity of the year into 2021. We were able to run one show at Barnstaple Pannier Market last year where we always hold a Tombola and make a small charge for entry which then all goes to our chosen charity. So along with the money raised at the Pannier, a donation from the Club’s coffers and the generosity of our members we were in the end very pleased to present FiG with a cheque for £1400.”
Emma Marston, General Manager of FiG, says: “We are so grateful to all the Club members for their fantastic fundraising – reaching this total was a real achievement, especially during lockdown. On behalf of all the local bereaved children, young people and their families these funds will be helping, a heartfelt thank you.”
